The Association of Baptists for World Evangelism - Horizon International Schools

The Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE) is an independent mission agency that exists to serve local churches in the task of sending missionaries around the world. ABWE, with ministries in over 70 countries, services over 5,000 churches and 1,250 missionaries. We are partnering with their Horizon International Schools. Their mission is to prepare Christian men and women around the world-in their own language and culture-for effective ministry.

We work closely together in the adaptation of Moody Bible Institute online courses for mission use. We share resources to produce courses of high quality as quickly as we can.

The Alliance for Saturation Church Planting

The Alliance for Saturation Church Planting is a partnership of more than 50 churches and international mission agencies setting aside their own philosophical differences and joining hands to help start new churches in the 27 countries that were previously controlled or influenced by the former Soviet Union.

Having been involved in the beginnings of thousands of churches, all of which need training for their pastors and other leaders, the Alliance is instrumental in gathering people together for training. Their Omega curriculum is freely available for our adaptation or as a base for further curricular development. They also provide connections with church leaders, learners, facilitators, and eLearning Center sites.

Bible Mission

Bible Mission is an interdenominational faith mission committed to helping people in eastern Europe and the C.I.S. find and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.  Their purpose is to support evangelical Christian missionary activities and charitable services among the Slavic and other peoples toward this end.  They are led by the motto "Every person has a right to a Bible" and "observe the principle For, with, and through the churches."

Bible Mission has made its editing department available for the translation, typesetting, and editing of English courses into the Russian language. We have also worked together in establishing a Web site in Russian to introduce people to Internet Bible courses (www.bm-ibs.org). They are also overseeing all of the future eLearning Centers being installed in Ukraine.

Kremenchuk Bible College

We are working with Kremenchuk Bible College to develop a distance-learning program. Their vision is to reach the Russian-speaking world with desperately needed biblical training.

Euro-Asian Accrediting Association

The Euro-Asian Accrediting Association (EAAA) is a voluntary association of evangelical educational institutions and other organizations which are interested in the development of theological education in the countries of the former Soviet Union. The mission statement of the EAAA is helping educational institutions in Eurasia better prepare more effective Christian workers for fulfilling the mission of Jesus Christ in evangelical churches and in post-communist society.

Through Sergei Sannikov, the executive director, the EAAA has agreed to participate in sponsoring a pastor's Resource CD. The CD was distributed at their conference in October 2001. MAF directed and Greater Europe Mission partially funded this project. We are also working through Kremenchuk Bible College to establish accredited courses with the EAAA.

Geneva Bible Institute

The Institut Biblique de Geneve (IBG) first opened its doors on January 11, 1928, in Geneva, Switzerland. With a vision to train church leaders throughout the French-speaking world they have trained over 2,000 people. We are working together to start a distance-learning department. The first phase is to translate our undergraduate level online courses into French.

Mission Aviation Fellowship

For more than half a century, Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) has sought to conquer barriers that isolate peoplemen, women, and childrenfrom spiritual and physical help. MAF is a team of aviation and communication specialists conquering barriers in support of more than 300 Christian and humanitarian organizations around the world. The task before educational institutions and the equipping arms of mission agencies and national ministries is to adequately prepare pastors and church leaders.  They have identified barriers to the completion of this task as including: insufficient means, wide geographic distribution of students and relocation issues, and security issues. They proposed that technology-mediated distance education could play a significant role in completing the task.

In 1999 MAF initiated a comprehensive Eurasia Distance Education Project (DE) and is working with numerous partners in this effort. They have developed a system of DE computer servers to support DE through learning centers and have piloted their first two DE courses on two of the four currently operational centers. MAF is also building six distance-education church leadership training courses as models and are teaching principles of DE course development and delivery to national educators in Ukraine, Russia, and Central Asia. Their goal is for national educators to build the DE courses in the future, so the benefits of DE can expand and be sustained in the region.

They have experience in the former Soviet Union in three previously successful distance-learning courses: Mystery of Marriage, Inductive Bible Study, and Servant Leadership. These courses have provided the basis for understanding how we can effectively use distance learning to educate Christians in the Russian language. They are also a leader in the installation of learning centers throughout the former Soviet Union. Their leadership has pioneered the use of distance learning in missions. To learn more about their distance education initiative, you can visit their Web site here.

SEND International

SEND is an interdenominational faith mission agency with over 600 missionaries in more than 20 countries in Asia, Europe, and North America. For more than 50 years they have been...

  • Starting churches where there are none by
  • Evangelizing the unreached,
  • Nurturing disciples, and
  • Developing leaders from among the national people.

We are working together in Ukraine. They are helping us to develop more contacts with Bible schools throughout the country. We are also strategizing together on how we can help build the church in Ukraine.

Moody Bible Institute

Moody Bible Institute (MBI) Distance Learning Center has partnered with us since 1999. We have helped them in the development of some of their online courses, and they are allowing us to use their courses in a missions context. MBI's mission is under the authority of the Word of God and in commitment to Christ and His church. MBI exists to equip and motivate people to advance the cause of Christ through ministries that educate, edify, and evangelize.

The mission of Moody Online is to provide access to a Moody education that will encourage believers to think biblically, to live Christianly, and to become effective stewards of their gifts and talents in their called communities.

Zaporozhye Bible College & Seminary

When the Berlin Wall came down, Greater Europe Mission began to explore ways of reaching people in former Communist countries. The almost unanimous response from Christian leaders in those countries was for training. Most of those serving as pastors had received their training through the local church or an occasional seminar. Full-time Bible colleges were needed. A concept that was working in other countries was teaching provided by North American Bible college or seminary teachers and pastors during a normal academic year. The question now was where would the two-week modular classes be taught. In Zaporozhye, Ukraine, a city of nearly one million, pastors were eager to start a Bible college. The result was Zaporozhye Bible College, founded in cooperation with the Baptist Union of Zaporozhye.
