In missions, pioneer work has required a certain amount of independence and resilience. Impossible odds-whether facing cannibals or resistant governments-have cultivated in mission organizations a determination to work hard and be resourceful. But have we in missions worked "smart"?
Our self-reliance has often resulted in weaknesses such as:
duplication of efforts
unhealthy competition
inefficient use of resources
confusion and division in God's
kingdom
The task which
Jesus
gave us 2000 years ago is still far from accomplished. As the centuries pass, the task not only grows larger but becomes increasingly complex. Thanks to the advances of technology in the past decade, it is much easier to work together as a body of
believers to accomplish the Great Commission. Improved communications between organizations via email and
the Internet make cooperation and partnerships a viable and vital option for missions. From the very beginning of eDOT's history, we have worked to cultivate partnerships. We work with others whose technological expertise helps us accomplish our task and with whom we can share resources. We work with Europeans who are on-site and able to aid in the development and implementation of courses that will train and disciple national Christians. Our desire is to find common ground with other like-minded organizations and work together
to establish ministries that promote unity in the
body of
Christ. Together we can accomplish more than we could if each organization worked independently. After all, we are all servants of
one King who want to work together
so His kingdom will advance.
