Developing Electronic Resources

Greater Europe Mission (GEM) recognizes that computers and the Internet have become significant forces in Europe.  Computer and Internet technologies have the potential to reach a much wider and larger audience than the traditional means of educating pastors and church leaders.  We are therefore seeking to effectively utilize the new opportunities afforded by these technologies. Neither GEM nor any other agency can fully develop and utilize these tools in isolation.  One of our greatest resources has been the organizations and individuals that God has brought to us as partners in the ministry.

In partnership with other ministries and individuals, eDOT is committed developing electronic resources for Discipleship, Outreach, and Training. Our goal is to produce effective computer-based resources for use by national workers, as well as to equip the nationals themselves to produce resources for the ongoing effectiveness of their own ministries.

A very effective resource, eLearning Centers, has been used to introduce national workers in Eastern Europe to the concepts and practices of distance learning.  The centers make computers available for taking distance learning courses, for evangelistic outreaches, and for training nationals in computer skills for use in ministry.  A week long program for using the center as an evangelistic point has been developed and used in the centers.  In Western Europe we work directly with churches, seminaries, and Bible schools to develop distance learning courses and to help them establish and maintain their own distance learning program.

Resources for facilitator training and course design are crucial for the development of a successful distance learning program and eDOT has developed training programs in these two import areas.

We are seeking to provide learning opportunities at all levels of maturity in the Christian life – including evangelism and pre-evangelism – and at all levels of informal and formal education. Two of our partners, Moody Bible Institute and Mission Aviation Fellowship, have made their online courses available to us and our partners for adaptation in other languages and cultures.  We have a growing library of distance education course ready to be used in several different language groups.

There are numerous skills that are needed to produce electronic learning courses. You can take a look at our lists of opportunities to get an idea. If you would be interested in using your skills to further God's kingdom in Europe, please contact us
