As I write this, I’m using my laptop while riding on a train traveling over 130 kph. My neighbor is a young woman wearing the traditional head scarf of a Muslim woman. She pulls out her headphones and plugs them into her cell phone. I wonder “What is she listening to? Perhaps an audio reading of the Bible and nobody would know.”
Have you ever seen something really cool and thought “I wonder if anybody is using this for building up the Kingdom of God?” That’s what we’re continuously looking at in eDOT. What if we could …
- Make an Internet café mobile to teach computer/job skills anywhere there is electricity?
- Create secured email systems, encrypted USB sticks and hard drives, confidential podcasting, etc. so that people can spread God’s love in “creative access” countries?
- Use social networks, blogging sites, and specially designed sites to encourage peer-to-peer discipling in younger generations?
- Enhance distance education technologies to not only help Bible schools train pastors and church leaders, but to enable the local church to disciple lay leaders and their congregations?
- Use cell phones (i.e. the Third Screen) to empower ministries to have better communication within themselves and with those that can’t be reached in any other way?
We listen to the needs of our partners, then experiment with a larger mixture of technologies to come up with the best solutions to meet the specific needs of ministries in Greater Europe.
