What is the first thing you do when you need an answer to a question? You may ask your friends or family first, but when they don’t know? You probably “google” the question and find an answer in seconds. This is part of online learning – people reaching others where they are by sharing information through the Internet.
One of the problems we identified in eDOT was the lack of sound biblical teaching in many parts of Europe. People simply couldn’t leave their families, businesses, and ministries to study at a traditional university – it was too expensive. So we provided an online environment and brought the university to them. We made the learning applicable to their local ministry situation by providing courses that require practical assignments and online discussion with other students also in ministry. It’s good to know that you’re not alone.
We have already developed the following courses:
- Old Testament Survey
- New Testament Survey
- Elements of Bible Study
- Jesus: His Life and Ministry
- Romans
- Survey of Theology 1
- Survey of Theology 2
- Spiritual Formation
- Facilitator Training
We are currently developing these courses:
- Preaching for Life Change
- Evangelism and Discipleship
- Church History
- Interpersonal Ministry Skills
- Educational Foundations
- Member Care—for use by GEM field leaders
Taking learning to the students—that’s the core of why eDOT uses online learning courses. We believe that no ministry partner should be without sound Biblical teaching because of location, time constraints, or economic factors.
