Sharing Christ at a Children's Center
|
Slava, a 50-something student at Zaporozhye Bible College
in Ukraine, was once a strong member of the Communist Party. After the fall of Communism, he felt
that he had nothing to live for . .
. until he found Jesus Christ as Savior. Since then, he has been using his background in technology to minister at a local
children's center. He has become the primary computer teacher there, reaching out not only to children but also to local school teachers, both saved and unsaved. Those without Christ have the opportunity not only to learn how to use a computer, but
also to get acquainted with believers such as Slava. Teachers who are already believers are grateful for the opportunity to stay current in their profession, something they could not do during the Communist regime.
The Children's Center of Zaporozhye is one of eDOT's strongest ministry partners. While the center is funded and administered by the Regional Baptist Union, eDOT has had the privilege of installing the
computer center and offering computer training to Tamara and Igor, the directors of the
Children's
Center. Operating year-round, the Children's Center reaches out to
young people ages 7-20 in a variety of ways such as AWANA, English camps, sewing classes, and computer classes. The computer classes are very popular—everyone wants to learn this newest form of technology. But the technology is not an end in itself; it's a venue for presenting the
gospel and living out a Christian witness among nonbelievers.
Believers such as Slava, Tamara, and Igor are faithfully reaching out to the lost around them in Ukraine. Will you pray with us that God will use their testimony at the Children's Center to lead people to Christ?
