 Students Combining Faith and Skills

Technology and missions.  Until recently those two didn't mix.  But a computer professor at Cedarville College in Ohio, who has a heart for missions, has found a way to bridge that gap.  For three years now he has organized a missions trip for some of his computer students to work with eDOT in furthering the cause of Christ in Romania.  The time they have invested has made a deep impact on the lives of the college students as well as on Romanians.  Josh, for instance, recently graduated from Cedarville and joined the team for the second year in a row.  He is making plans to return to serve in Europe full time, having seen God use him to bring people to Christ through teaching computers—and sharing the gospel.
The college students spent a week in each of three villages in rural Romania, where they led a total of five different training sessions for adults and teens.  Each of the five days included two and one-half hours of computer training and a chapel time during which each Cedarville student shared his testimony and Josh presented the gospel.
Over 130 people heard the gospel, saw the love of Christ demonstrated through the college students' lives, and learned how to better use a computer.  Some were believers, appreciative of opportunities to learn technology after years of oppression by the Communist government.  Others were nonbelievers who now feel comfortable being in a church and have made friends with believers in town.  Three are now part of God's family—thanks to college students who took the time to apply their faith and education to a real-life missions experience.
eDOT will help college students with technology training find ways to serve in a missions setting.
