What Is eLearning?

"e" – that's electronic. "Learning" – that's coming to know something you didn't know before. So how can you come to know something you didn't know before by electronic means? And why would you?

More and more these days, if pastors and church leaders throughout the world are to have the opportunity to study, it must be at a distance from the traditional institutions of learning. These students simply cannot leave their ministries or homes to study. So learning must be brought to them. Currently we're working in the former Soviet Union, Switzerland (French), Italy, Romania, and Portugal. With the Lord's help and a vast amount of cooperation among God's people, it's being done! Oh, and by the way, distance learning is not new to the church. In fact, it may have been invented by the church! Here's what the apostle Peter said in his second letter: "Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking" (2 Pet. 3:1 NIV). Now we are just taking advantage of the latest technology to span the distance.
