Teaching Truth through Technology
|
Cornelia is actively involved in her church in Sibiu, Romania, where her husband serves as a pastor. She also works part time as a nurse to help provide for their family. When she heard that a team of Americans were coming to their church for a computer outreach, she eagerly planned to attend the classes. Not only was she interested in furthering her own computer skills but she wanted to bring her best friend to eDOT's creative new way of sharing the
gospel. And though she worked third shift during several days of the computer outreach, Cornelia cheerfully came each morning, bringing her unsaved friend to the four-hour classes.
Basic Microsoft Office programs were taught each day by members of the team who came to spend two weeks working alongside Bethany Baptist Church to reach their community with the
gospel. A Romanian believer translated the presentation while other members of the team “tutored” 2
to 4 Romanians at each computer desk. They learned how to select text and click with a mouse, beginner typing, etc. Just before the class break, team members held a short chapel time
during which they had opportunity to share their testimonies, sing several songs, and give a short
gospel presentation. At the end of the week, those who attended
the classes were invited to a service at the church where they received a certificate of participation and once again heard a
gospel message.
At the end of the computer outreach, Cornelia's friend not only knew how to select text and insert clip art, she knew what she needed to do to trust Christ for eternal life. Pray with us that the seeds of truth that were sown during the computer outreach will bear fruit in the lives of the 80+ Romanians who attended.
